Types of Markers

Pump-Action Marker
Maverick Pump

The pump-action marker is now used in paintball mostly as a side-arm pistol. For a player to use this type of marker as his primary marker that player will have to use sniper-like abilities because of its one shot per pump action. The pump action marker was the first type of marker to be released. Many say that by a person using a pump action marker he is "old school" and a skilled player due to his accuracy he might have for using this type of marker. People consider the type of games that are played with only pump action markers are the most fun because everyone has a chance and it takes the most skill to actually hit someone.

Semi-Automatic Marker

The semi-automatic marker is the most popular among players. The semi auto marker allows for a player to continue firing paintballs as fast as the trigger can be pulled. The semi auto marker revolutionized the sport of paintball by bringing it to a new level. Before the semi auto markers were only the pump action markers which, to some, were getting old. The first line of semi automatic markers to appear on the scene were very expensive and almost rare to see on the field. Brass Eagle designed an inexpensive semi automatic marker called the Stingray which changed the sport of paintball entirely.

Fully-Automatic Marker
Brass Eagle Rainmaker

The fully-automatic marker is usually considered forbidden on most fields due to it's rapid fire by just holding down the trigger. As they are fun to play with, players who use them are in a way cheating. They are considered cheating because of it's continuous rapid fire allowing upto 14+ shots per second be fired from simply holding the trigger down. By using this type of marker a player has no skill of the game and can basically stand there and hold the trigger.

Electronic Marker

The electronic marker is one of the best markers a player can use. The reason it is not seen on the field as much is due to it's high retail price. The electronic marker has an LCD screen on the hand grip allowing the player to do many things. By using an electronic marker a player has the choice of selecting the rate of fire. A player can choose from shooting one shot at a time, a 3-8 round burst, semi-automatic, or even fully automatic by simply pressing buttons on the LCD screen. The electronic marker's are taking the sport of paintball by storm and company's like Kingmann are developing inexpensive types of these markers which will once again revolutionize the sport as did the semi automatic markers did years ago.
